2015 has been quite a Year for us. I won’t go into all the details here, but it has been the sort of year where instead of waiting for the other shoe to drop we’ve been waiting for the torrential rain of shoes to end.
A month or so into this, two of our friends invited us to play the new (to us) MMORPG they had found. We were curious for a number of reasons. The idea of being able to play a game with people we knew again was lovely, their description of how it worked was nice, and… well…. it was Final Fantasy. Mister Tea has experienced more of the series than I have, as I came to video games a bit late, but we have both loved the games for quite a long time.
We tried the trial, and were immediately drawn in. The main storyline was amazing, the gameplay interesting, but best of all, there was a community of a type that I had not seen since my first MUDS and MMORPG near 20 years ago.
Playing FFXIV caused us to chat about some of the other Final Fantasy games, and the Kingdom Hearts series, and…. we realized that despite how long this particular world had been a part of both of our lives, we’d never made a tea for it.
We decided to start with a green tea blend that would be something people would love, and that their chocobos would want to steal. (Anyone who has played FFVI probably remembers long hours breeding chocobos.) We also wanted a tea that would be lovely whether iced or hot, since summers here are brutal, and refreshing teas are a near necessity.
Lemon has always been a standard summer flavour, from lemonades to lemons in standard iced tea, and lemongrass is an herb with a flavour tasty enough that occasionally I brew it on its own. The calendula adds just a touch of floral and sweet. We taste tested it ourselves first, and then ran it by a fellow lover of the series who likes green teas, and it passed on all points.
Now for the basics:
Organic Ingredients: High Mountain Green Tea, Lemongrass, Lemon Peel, Calendula Flowers
Batch Weight: 3 ounces (approximately 30-35 cups of tea)
Options: Loose Tea (Sample, Bag, Tin), Teabags
