Build a Tea Project 2023

This entry is part 1 of 1 in the series Build a Tea

I have gotten fixated on a project.

I want to make a tea for 2023.

When I started thinking about it, I asked for some input on some of the social media platforms I attempt to use for Desert Sage Natural, and what I received gave me Ideas.

However, it also reminded me of how much I used to enjoy the Build-A-Tea and Dice-Rolls-For-Tea projects.

Given the downfall of the platform formerly known as Twitter, not sure if I will be able to generate as many votes as has happened prior, but I wanted to try.

In part because it is often more of a challenge to create a tea this way, and, in part because collaborative creation is one of my absolute favourite things.

I put a couple of hard guidelines/limitations on myself for the ingredient selection lists.

The first was that the foundation for this 2023 tea would be one of the foundational teas that was named in 2023. The second is that I wanted to include one of the ingredients that I either added to the toolbox properly or finally got around to getting comfortable with in 2023.

The other categories are based on the feedback for the year and my own feelings about it – for now I am going to leave three of those as numbers and will elaborate, if wanted, once the tea is done.

Foundation Tea
Only the Anacrusis would be an option, but it is in a holding pattern at present, waiting for a restock of the 2nd Flush Darjeeling that I use.

Rise Up is the only one of these that could come in both caffeinated and decaffeinated, depending on what other ingredients were chosen.

New Denizens of the Toolbox
Those last two are still in the friend-making process, which I mention because at the moment they would qualify as "hard mode." This is not necessarily a bad thing, as I do enjoy a challenge, but it bore mentioning.

The starred ingredients contain caffeine, though in cacao shells, it is comparatively minimal.

Lastly, we have the Wildcards. What wins here might not be used, but having the option could be fun.

Some of the ingredients do repeat, but that was intentional as they fit into more than one of the categories I had set up for myself.

Let’s make a tea.
