This entry is part 5 of 9 in the series Tea Naming

Close up image of black tea and curls of dried turmeric.

This tea exists for a very simple reason.

I wanted to drink it.

St. John’s is part of my everyday hot beverage rhythm and is probably my favourite workday black tea blend.

I love the taste. This means I rig up a lot of cups of St. John’s plus other tastes that I want or plants that have things that I need.

The theme for naming teas that use St. John’s is stories of people who were known for speaking truth, especially to power; or the stories of people who made sacrifices in the pursuit of the betterment of humanity (large scale or small), or tales of that particular sort of malicious compliance that speaks volumes when needed.

In this tea, the turmeric is a gentle warming taste that increases steadily over the course of a cup. It doesn’t get to proper spicy levels, but the threat is there.

If you have any thoughts or ideas or tales or stories that fit the naming theme for St. John’s Verity as a foundation, I would love to hear them.

This tea is not the only one in that category waiting for a name.
