Face the Day (Green Grey Ginger Jasmine) (8-390)

A from above shot of a small white bowl set on a variegated stone surface, the bowl full of a blend of jasmine flowers, bits of ginger, and tea.

My notes for where this tea came from are irritatingly sparse.

I know it happened in late 2020 – which, admittedly, makes it at least a little understandable that the details may have gotten lost in the ether.1

I have the name of a tea person.

A suggested name for the tea.

And a list of ingredients with scribbled annotations as to the ratios for the first test batch.

As you might expect, this is not incredibly useful for pulling forth my usual kind of tea story.

When I went back to retest the ratio notes, I decided that they were not quite right, and that the recipe needed a bit of tweaking.

When enjoying that second test cup, however, the name scribbled down on that journal page began to make a lot of sense.

It is a relatively gentle tea on the front end, but as I continued through the cup, the tea and the ginger steadily got a little stronger – almost like the tea was saying: “Hey. It’s okay. We can do this.”

It is not uncommon for me to have days that could use that kind of gentle encouragement, and I rather loved that this tea gave me that feeling.

It also became part of why I decided this tea needed to be closer to the front of the release queue. Definitely felt like one that should be accessible to more than the handful of humans who have received it as a Tea of the Month.
